What makes and environment hostile?

The list is long but we can start with the following:
These are a bit broad-brush but cover all the usual suspects. Throw together a few endemic life-threatening diseases, a bit of civil unrest, a 4x4 up to the axles in mud and you are now on the back foot in a very unpleasant situation. Proper prearation and training is now the difference between life and death.
Of course, you don't have to go too far to be in danger. Broken down at 3am in a less desireable part of one of Britain's towns or cities can be a frightening experience which leaves you vulnerable to robbery, violence and abuse - all for no other reason than you are in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Courses:
Our training and consultancy service can help you make the right decisions in the early stages. Our consultants have experience of planning and undertaking similar ventures in all sorts of areas. All ex-military, they have considerable expertise on-hand and a lot of useful contacts elsewhere to help out with the more unusual.
(Of course, you could not bother and follow in the traditions of many 'great' British adventurers and just cuff it. Part of the fun, stiff upper lip and all that, get there at all costs etc etc. Worked well for Captain Scott in the Antarctic and the British Army in the Somme after all! Loads of great stories/video/photos etc etc on return - if you do return that is!)
Living on the edge is great to talk about afterwards but absolutely no fun at the time. We know what gets our vote - proper training, preparation and planning wins every time. Dramas may still occur - but they won't be quite as much of a nightmare as they could otherwise be.
What will you learn from us?
Planning and preparation is everything. You cannot do too much before you get there. A few of the many things to think about:
Only a few of the things we need to think about before moving into the wilder parts of the world. As you can see there is a lot to consider. Throw in a few militia road-blocks, bit of highway robbery and so on and it can become a serious issue

We will teach you the essentials of 4x4, recovery techniques, basic checks and maintenance procedures. We will also help you put together a list of spares and equipment you should be taking with you. (Feel free to add to it as well!)
Our remote-area first aid training will give you as many of the skills as you can get as non-medical professionals. Hopefully enough to stabilise and evacuate a serious casualty.
But then you need to know where you are and the fastest route out - it's not always the shortest.........
You can pick and mix these courses as you fell necessary or why not tell us where you are going and what you will be doing, your level of experience and that of any others going and we can make some recommendations for you.
