Standard Response Driving Course

Our Standard Response Driving Course is that delivered by Scottish Police forces and to Military Police and Nuclear Emergency Response teams. It is considered to be among the highest standards available anywhere in the world. It is taught by experienced, professional instructors who hold a Police Advanced Driving Certificate and who have been involved in training a wide range of emergency vehicle operators. Our instructors are all DSA approved and qualified

The 10 day course covers the following:

There are 3 assessments within the 10 days which must be passed prior to moving on to the next phase of training.

If you require this training for your staff, we come to you and deliver at your workplace. Using our own saloon cars initially for training, we then move into your own response vehicles for the later stages so that the training you receive is tailored exactly to the requirements of your individual organisation and equipment.

The law is changing - don't be caught out........

There are a considerable number of organisations entitled to fit and use blue lights and audible warning devices. At present only Police, Fire and Ambulance vehicles have exemptions with respect to exceeding speed limits. Others are not legally permitted to do so unless under police escort.

The law is due to change though and the proposed Road Safety Bill legislation, tabled in 2006, may well confer the ability to exceed speed limits on other organisations.

The proposed legislation also places a requirement on drivers to be properly trained on a course which incorporates the key elements set out by the Blue Light User Group, a government-led consultative body. Even at present, all emergency service drivers should be trained as it is a requirement under the Health and Safety at Work Act.

Even when working under police escort, it is essential that drivers are trained to a high standard and fully understand the protocols and techniques required to make their way through difficult traffic situations and it makes the whole operation much safer and more effective.

Please Note:

The nature of this training is such that it is not available to members of the general public. All candidates must be members of an emergency service and have a role within that which involves, or may involve Emergency Response driving. If this is not the case you may only attend one of our Advanced Driving or Close Protection Driver Courses.

Courses must be booked through the organisation's training co-ordinator and applications from individuals will not be accepted.
