Why should I take an advanced rider course?........
As a motorcyclist you are a vulnerable road user. The roads are getting more and more dangerous for those of us who ride motorcycles. Despite what we may think about our riding, we can all improve. (Even our instructors undergo regular training and assessment to keep their skills up!)
Courses we offer.........
1 Day - Initial Assessment and Rider Improvement Skills
2 Day - Advanced Rider Course (Brings you up to ROSPA/IAM Bike Test Level)
3 Day - Master Rider Course and tour- includes 2 overnight tour stops.
We can also provide a 2 hour assessment and feedback session held in evenings or weekends (daylight hours)
Please click here or telephone 01294 833648 for further information
Our advanced rider training aims to give you the increased awareness necessary to survive on today's roads. The
skills we teach are similar to those taught by the major advanced motoring organisations but to a higher standard.
Another key difference is that Protec instructors are professional trainers and you are guaranteed to learn quickly and effectively rather than from sporadic input by various trainers who, although committed and enthusiastic, often lack the in-depth knowledge, skills and continuity required to train properly at this level.
In addition, our training takes place on some of the best biking roads in Britain - surrounded by awesome scenery that you might actually be able to get a look at for the first time in your biking career!
(If you are looking for direct access or CBT training, please look in our links page. There are 2 suppliers of this we would recommend.)
Returning to biking or preparing for the new season?
Riding a motorcycle is a perishable skill - in other words, the longer you are away from it, the more time it takes to get your skills and awareness back to the right level.
For some that break may only have been a few months over the winter, for others it may be several years since you last rode. Even a couple of weeks away from your machine needs a little time to get the feel back.
Mistakes on 2 wheels are in the least frightening and often worse. By letting us help you get back up to speed on the road you are greatly reducing the risk to yourself.
Have a think about this:
We all want biking to be fun - after all, thrills and the sensation of speed are what many people look for in biking. There is however, a time and place for this. We teach you where and when is appropriate and when is not.
By the way, don't think you'll be out on the road with a know-all anorak with 'INSTRUCTOR' written all over their back! We can turn it on with the best of them and we will not embarrass you by making you look like a CBT candidate!
What you will learn.....
The key skills you will learn from us include the following:
Correct Road Positioning
Observation Skills
Planning and Anticipation Skills
Assessing and Negotiating Bends
Safe Overtaking
What you need.........
You must have a road-legal motorcycle capable of sustained national speed limit speeds and fitted with road tyres (not scrambler type). In addition you must have a CE approved helmet, motorcycle boots and good quality leathers or other purpose-designed protective motorcycle clothing. You must present a full UK/EEC licence for that category of machine plus proof of insurance prior to training.
